A speech and language evaluation is a complex process that probes an individual’s oral language communication skills in all areas of suspected difficulty. The evaluation will assist in determining the presence or absence of a disorder, describe the nature of the difficulty, delineate the severity of the problem, and provide a specific treatment plan.
A diagnostic reading evaluation uses tools that are valid, reliable, and developed using scientifically-based reading research. This type of evaluation assesses a student’s reading strengths and weaknesses, determines which difficulties a student may have in learning to read or the difficulties that are preventing grade-level reading, the cause of those difficulties, and a detailed intervention plan.
Comprehensive evaluations can also be conducted for students who are Spanish speakers.
